Lovely shot of the rose but perhaps just lacking contrast...I have offered a slight modification...not sure if you'll approve, Neil.

Excellent capture & image rendering, Neil, with fine color, clarity, & comp. I think that Ronnie's modification is superb, & really complements the "photographic impact," of your image. Regards...LEx

Hi Neil,

What a great job you've done here with the composition and colours and the sharpness and DoF are brilliant. I really like this shot a lot and I think given that you say you're learning about the camera, you've done brilliantly. You've also handled the composition really well.

If I have to offer you any advice it is to focus more on that beautiful flower and not so much the background. You could even crop this square and get right in close.

Again this is a stunning shot and I think you go and find something like this again and try some more, I reckon if you can do this whilst you're learning then you'd have stunning effects when you are more experienced. Maybe a few more water droplets would be pleasing to the eye as well.

Hope this helps

Beautiful image Neil - wonderful rose. Ronnies slight adjustments has just brought out that bit more detail. But a beautiful shot, well done !

This is basically a very competant image, but it does need that little brightness and contrast boost just to lift it and give a little impact. Easily done in software.

Thank you everyone,it is encourageing to get comments and mods like this on pictures that i have tried as "Photography" as opposed to pictures taken just of what i see,if that makes any sense. Yours Neil and family.

As has been said, this is very dark and to me at least the rose itself looks a bit flat.
I've increased the tone, adjusted shadows/highlights, adjusted levels (the histogram was all to the left) increased brightness and contrast and sharpened.
I also got rid of the frame but that's a personal dislike.
All done in CS5.
I ran it through "Noiseware" as well.

agree with all the above v. useful points. I'd just like to say, as a proud exiled Blackpudlian, that the colour isn't really golden, but tangerine Smile

Nice work
