Grandad's Cinerarias

By dark_lord
John's (dudler) blog a few days ago about family images prompted me to put this one up for Fim Friday.
It's my grandfather with his greenhouse full of cinerarias. Kodak 126 Instamatic, Kodachrome 64. January or February 1979.
The greenhouse was built on the site of their WW2 air raid shelter.

Many thanks indeed to all who commented or voted on Ironbriodge. I was quite taken aback by the interest shown.
Also very much appreciated are the UAs from notsuigeneris, dudler, madeinbrooklyn, mike9005, ZenTony, gentry3951, mac, jacomes, monochome2004, leo_nid, woolybill1 and mistere.

Happy days, when you strove to produce the best flowers for the annual flower show. You all had your special formulas to trick the flowers in producing championship blooms. Excellent image with good colours.

Made me think of my late mum and the time she used to spend in her greenhouse - not flowers, but cucumbers and tomatoes.

Yes he liked his garden very much. It was a large back garden as was the norm in the new estates in the 1930s.
He'd grow tomatoes in summer too.

Not familiar with cinerarias Keith …can tell your grandad was sure proud of them. The blue ones especially are very interesting….not a lot of true blue flowers around of that size .
Cheers Walt
