Grandson Michael takes control of the Piper PA -28 Warrior 11

By canoncarol
Thanks for all your votes and comments on my Queen Street Mill image and a special thank you to Graham (gpimages) and Mike (Mike_Smith) for their valued UA's

On Saturday my grandson Michael who is hoping to become a pilot took control of the 4 seater Piper plane under the supervision of his instructor. My son Robert and myself were on board and it was certainly a day to remember. Blue skies as we left Blackpool to fly over Morecambe Bay and see our village from the air, got a fantastic view of the Lake District Mountains, The Trough of Bowland and Pendle on the return journey.

A friend of mine got his pilot's licence a good few years ago, and he flies from Sherburn Aero Club, near Sherburn in Elmet. I've been up with him a couple of times locally, and one weekend the club had a weekend trip to Sligo in Ireland (1997, on looking it up), and was invited to go with him. There were about 4 or 5 aircraft - Piper Warriors like this - in total, and we stopped off at Blackpool for a coffee, and again at Ronaldsway on the Isle of Man, before going on to Sligo. We had an overnight stay there, returning home on the Sunday afternoon. It was a super weekend 😃 A very interesting set captured here, Carol 👍👍

Sounds like you had a great trip Trev. I was impressed with the Piper, it was 43 years old, same age as my son and probably in better condition Smile

Cracking set of shots Carol, about 15 years ago I had a flying lesson. In a very similar aircraft, I wasn’t too interested in flying the craft. But I did fly it at one point, I was more interested in flying over the village I grew up in to take photographs. Plus we flew over the harbour in Whitby and back down the coast. Very enjoyable it was
