Hold it so that your fingers don't show would be the first suggestion, Henry!

Welcome back, anyway, and I hope that you're still having fun with your camera.

This looks like a seriously good area to be exploring at present, while you have - I'm guessing - a good deal of time on your hands, and nowhere to go.

Technically, I think you neeed to experiment a little with exposures, to get more drama through the contrast in the image than there is here. But the idea of combining multiple images and playing with their juxtaposition is inspired.

As for extending the story... If you have access to a stock of sci-fi films, I'd suggest looking htere for inspiration: I've recently watched both Apollo 11 (with amazing, eye-wateringly good film from 50 years ago) and Ender's Game on Netflix. 2001 a Space Odyssey and the Star Trek movies will also show you something about the way that you can play with perspective for dramatic effect.

Welcome back to the Critique Gallery, anyway - I hope we can help you to relieve the boredom over the next few weeks.

Welcome back from me too.

It's nice to see you're willing to discuss ideas and the Critique Gallery is well placed for that so please post any results you come up with.

I like your idea here but your fingers aren't very visible, so you reflect a little light from the lamp back onto your hand. I was going to suggest a white card or aluminium foil but given the surreal nature of this a colour wouldn't go amiss. Or perhaps use an LED torch. You'd need to experiment to get the balance looking 'right'. I say 'right' in that you don't want the hand and fingers to dominate.
Alternatively a dark blue background would look good with your hand visible as a silhouette.

For further ideas you could add some space hardware.
I don't have the image in my portfolio anymore (perhaps I should reprocess and reupload it) where I used a picture of a Ferris wheel as a space station.
Models from sci-fi films can be used as Dave (mistere) did yesterday in this image.

Hi Henry,
I like your idea, but for me I would actually like to see your hand holding the planet, combined with other stuff I think it would look good.
So I did a mod and added a few bits Wink
You could perhaps get a couple of model space ships or even a total Universe with the planets fixed to string so you could hang them wherever you wanted to, bet you would get them from Amazon or the like in the kids section.
Thank you very much everybody, I'm going to try get into the habit of trying new things again, and like you've said, yes i do have a lot of time TongueTongue

cheers, Henry
