Gray Catbird

By taggart
Gray Catbird
Dumetella carolinensis. 9 inches Male and female appear the same

The Chippewa Indians named the one 'the bird that cries with grief.' The have a raspy call that reminds one of a house cat's meowing. But the are not grieving at all. Although secretive, they are often around the garden and in the woods and will respond to a human mimicking his call. (fun) One will more often find the in the shady woodlands.

Never heard of them before. Almost looks like the build of our robins without the colour.
