Great Spotted Woodpecker

By Glostopcat
A great spotted woodpecker I saw from the willow hide on a recent visit to Slimbridge. This was the only shot I grabbed of him as he was on the feeders for the rest of the time he was out in the open.

Classic pose for these beautiful birds Ed, not easy to capture as the slightest movement and they are gone, well done.

Much better to capture him like this, instead of on the feeders.

I quite agree Pamela, I always prefer natural shots unless they are humorous wildlife images a la Bunbeam

You did well to capture these birds Ed, as they move around pretty quick! See quite a few close to home, but never managed to get a picture. You sure would need a hide and lots of patience. James Wink
