happy new year to you.. it is a very good shot of a handsome tit. Didn't know you had the same lens Smile
I have never tried the D5000 , but the detail is good.
Only it seems to be a bit noisy. Well I had a similar problem, bit less pronounced , with my D2x. For me it started a 800 ASA.
There are 2 remedies, at least with the d2x it worked
- Topaz denoise.
- DXO optics pro.
the latter, which I only discovered recently, works extremely well with my old D2x files.. even before you open them in Photoshop.
Both programs offer free 4week trials, so you can always give it a try.

hope this helps Smile

Very smart bird in a lovely pose.

Topaz Denoise is very useful though a bit fiddly if you only want to reduce the noise in part of an image as I often do.
