Greater Spotted Flash

At first I cursed my shutter speed on this shot, but the more I look at it the better I like it. It demonstrates superb movement and actually shows off the colours quite well.

Poetry in motion...

It reminds me, a bit inappropriately, of a poem called Magpies in Picardy. (They fly as poets might.) But the poem is about the soldiers who marched to war in Picardy a hundred years ago, and the sadness of that overwhelms the joy of flashing, blurring flight...

Someone should write a poem about the joy of flight, and glimpsed motion (or, maybe, I should read more poetry, and find it's been done!)
