Greater Spotted Woodpecker

By nemasi
Recently I visited North Wales , whilst I was there I decided to practice with my new lens, new to bird photography I thought it was the perfect time to have a go. The garden was abundant with wild birds which was great. We had chaffinch, reed bunting, blue tit, great tit, robins, blackbirds just to name a few. However I did get a bit excited when I saw the greater spotted woodpecker as it is not something I normally see where I live.
This woodpecker become a bit of a challenge as it took me 3 mornings just to capture 1 image !! He was extremely difficult to focus on as within seconds he would fly off again before you could even focus the camera. I observed where he would land, and set up my camera ready, patiently sat and waited, eventually my patience paid off and I got the shot, it was all worth it !! I find that just taking a step back sometimes to observe these wonderful wild birds can be very fulfilling .😊

Many Thanks for looking Grin
