Grebe's on nest

By strawman
A picture from a little project I am doing. I am trying to observe a pair of Grebe's as the season progresses. The have nested at the side of a local water park, not far from the path, and with care it is possible to get a shot.

I did miss their mating dance, but perhaps next year.

I hope to get some photo's once the egg hatches and they get active feeding it. Given their desired location is in the branches of a tree having over the water edge, it is of course hard to get a view not spoiled by the tree, and it tens to be very dark.

I wondered if it is worth posting, as its not the cleanest of backdrops, but it is the natural habitat of the bird.

Taken after 8pm, ISO 800, 200mm and F8.

As ever I welcome views or critique.

Very natural and a great capture, I would get out very early when the light is good, you will have to pick your time as when the egg hatches they will carry the chick away from the banki and feed there

Thanks Sarah, with patience and care you can creep up on them, but it has to be very slow. I give up if the bird looks too twitchy, or like it wants to leave the nest, no point in upsetting them or their young.
