Green girders

By saltireblue
Hello all.
Anyone else fed up with the so-called summer so far?

Every time I ear-mark an event as worth having a butchers, when it comes to the day it's absolutely phissing down. Has happened three times this "summer."Sad

Saturday was the annual Gay Pride parade in Oslo, and for the second year running, it rained cats and dogs all day. Who invented the saying about raining on your parade? And despite the advice of the Weather Girls, I did not want to go out and get absolutely soaking wet!
Ah well, there's always next year...(as I said last year.)

Anyway, down to the business of the day. This effort is converted from raw without altering any colours, and no hdr treatment. It is the framewrok holding up the roof at an outdoor stage in the town of Drammen here in Vikingland.
The only thing I have done is a slight crop and an insy-wincy tweak to the levels. The hdr look is due to the corrugated plastic roof acting as a kind of light filter.

Many thanks for all recent comments and to Bill (woolybill1):
No, my favourite line from a song is NOT "Do you come from a land down under?" by Men at Work.Wink

I was reading the long range forecast at the Met Office website earlier and they reckon this months going to be a blinder with temperature records expected to be exceeded....What truth lies in this statement, well I guess we'll see, so keep your pecker up it ain't all bad Wink As for this image, well I don't think I can comment on it so much as it's not really my kinda thing, but I do reckon it's crying out for a contrasty mono conversion, but hey what the hell do I know.....Tongue

Makes an interesting abstract Malc.

Weather forecast for the UK for July appears to be really good although I'm not convinced.Smile

Funnily enough we have had a rather better summer in west of Scotland this year.
You do manage to find interesting subjects, full of angles, lines and patterns, Malc, and this is another excellent example of such. Good use of full DOF with fine crisp detail from fore to back.

I just HAD to do you a b&w mod using the SilverEfex Pro preset named 'High Structure (harsh)', with a little bit of a tweak in Curves and a mid-cyanotype tone. But I still couldn't blot out the dragon droppings entirely BlushBlushBlush
Rumour has it that August will be a belter. Or if rumour doesn't have it, it darn' well should!

Like the mod, Bill. The addition of the toning adds a feel of an industrial propaganda image from the 30's or 40s.
The dragon droppings were deposited by dragons disguised as pigeons.Wink

In some ways this image kind of sums up Summer so far Malc, yet Yesterday was lovely in Kent. Yep', Summer was definitely on a Sunday this Year.

I love that colour - and all the odd angles and lines. You should be used to that weather being a Scot! Wink

Being used to it is far removed from liking it, Ann...and no, you are not living dangerously.
BTW...are you familiar with a beautiful Scottish word - dreich? It can be said with such venom and feeling.Grin

Clean lines with a hint of rust and grot. You can fight it but you'll never win.
Bill's Mod has done what I would do. Bother him.

Love the complexity of lines and angles here.

We are having a dreadful summer too and yes, it is wearing. It's the relentless greyness that gets me down. Roll on moving to Spain!

I fell so sorry to report a gorgeous summer here, with temperatures around 30C most days, and little rain. I will feel depressed about it for a short while as a mark of respect to you all!

I like the shot in general, but I wonder if it should be more, but I wonder if it could be more representative of the sort of summer youre having, - thinking some sort of mono. Ill try a mod.

Willie, what shall I start with? OK, thank you for being a gentleman and showing respect for us freezing folk in the east...we appreciate your concern.Tongue

Your mod:
That is inspired! It's brilliant! Very imaginative. It's a totally different image that really deserves to be on the gallery in its own right. Thank you!
There should be an award for inspired mods.

As for summer, we get a few days of warm sunshine, then just as we're acclimatising to it, it turns cold and wet again! Sad

Diane...if you made that mod whilst drinking Irn Bru, then it confirms what I have always believed...Irn Bru is as good as Guiness for inspiration. Now there's a thought...Irn Bru/Guiness half 'n' half in a pint jug.GrinGrin
Brilliant mod and I love the need to add whiskyWink

You should take up golf Malc.
I have heard golfers say it NEVER rains on the golf course.
A lot of rubbish if you ask me.
Although it is a lot drier when you are at the nineteenth hole though.
Apart for when you have too much too drink and spill your pint all down your front !!
Good chunky lines here.
