The contrasting background helps a great deal to show off the fabtastic greens of the hairstreak - mine always seem to be surrounded by green and get lost a tad!

Well done!

The detail is amazing and I like the way you've left room for the butterfly to breathe... the composition is particularly good.

The out of focus part of the grass stem is distracting in the larger version... I would suggest cropping just a little more to make this less obvious.

Also your good intentions to "preserve the brightness" have resulted in a certain lack of contrast on the butterfly. You could really make the butterfly much more the subject of attention by reducing the brightness on and around it and increasing the contrast a little.

It's a shot that's worthy of this much attention!

Very fine work indeed!
