Green reflections.

By Ray12
Sorry, but forgot where I took this:: Blush.
I called it "Green reflections" because the sun was so bright and the trees so green that it was being reflected in the waterfall its self.

Hi Ray
It doesn't matter that you can't remember, from the image's point of view, unless you want to go back and try some different shots. Someone may recognise the location.

It's interesting to see the green tinge and while it's easily corrected i'd leave it as that's the feature that interested you in the first place. Remove it and it becomes just the waterfall.

I would like to see a little room at the base of the image, so it's not cramped and there's somewhere for the water to 'flow'.
My mod, however, concentrates on the water itself. I made a feathered selection of the water and made a Levels adjuistment to brighten it, then a Curves adjustment to increase contrast. It all looked a buit mushy before.

Actually it is a pity you can't remember as it could look golden in autumn Smile

Youve got the nice milky water effect quite well Ray.

A combination of underexposure, and a cloudy weather white balance manually selected, probably makes this even greener than green!

The light source is what the white balance is set for, and this is more daylight than cloudy/ So it will be less warm, and with exposure increased the green, while still there is brighter.

Ive done this in the mod.

A bit more exposure possibly, Keith's mod works for me. But the green reflection really makes the image, I wouldn't want to dilute it.

I'm not a soft water fan, but this has a sense of mystery, a secret, private place. Green is traditionally the colour of the supernatural, 'the other'. My Hampshire granny was always scandalised if she saw someone wearing green in church...

I like the way Willie's mod keeps a green tinge, without everything looking too green.

As Keith says, a tiny bit more room at the bottom would make the image more complete: it's easy at the top, because there are objects that you've kept in frame: at the bottom, there was very possibly only dead space - but a little of that would improve the shot, I think...

I'm not normally keen on the milky water stuuf, but this is sufficiently different in approach to transcend my negative feelings. A quite strong image indeed and I think the multitude of greens is a plus.

Hi all.
I managed to find out the name of the place where I took this image. It was near "Nant Mill" at "Plas Power Park" all through you have to walk bout 30/40 mins through the forest following the river.
Many thanks for all your constructive criticism and mods.
Just to point out I did take some shots on my mobile, the waterfall was also green on them.

Green it should be - the question is how green?

And that's as much a matter of personal choice (both for you and the viewer) as it is objective scientific fact.
