For once I like the Mod - shows all the hidden detail.
Good picture to start with, Kate.

a sort of minimalist.. foreground taken for granted, eyes travel fast to that little, elongated patch of land, the trees and the hills behind.. nicely composed..
V2 - i think frame was a necessity here..
so, V1.

V2 for me Kate, but only because I am not a fan of large borders.
I had a tip from Bill (woolybill1) about a year ago which I have used ever since, and that is to add a 2 piel white border and use ePz's black bg.
I know it's all personal taste, but I find it shows off the image best, regardless of whether it is colour or b&w.

I think this is really good. Classy presentation... clean simple frame in a neutral colour that doesn't interfere with the image but sets it off nicely.
Very good composition, well considered. All in all an atmospheric image that can stand being looked at and enjoyed at length.

There are some odd colours going on in the sky, over those distant peaks, and I don't know what's causing that. I've removed them as best I can in my mod, where I've also increased the moodiness in the sky and made some localized adjustments to the light.

What I like about this is that you have resisted dolling up the image and making it look more attractive in any way: you have captured and shown the scene exactly as you saw it at the time.......cold, grey, dreich......and in a nicely balanced composition with good string f/g features.

"Objective representation" or subjective "emotional response"??... "Reportage," or "Fine Art"?? We each have our preferences, Ronnie, and I at least respect yours. One man's meat....

It is down to personal taste but I am not a fan of borders so V2 is my fav. A great rugged landscapeGrin

V1 for me, it is an excellent winter landscape where you've conveyed the cold conditions so well. The framing looks good and is not over the top like you see on some images
