Growing your own

By HobbitDave
This is a small raised bed I put together with my brothers help last year. Amazing what will grow in a small space - the spinach here has lasted through a Yorkshire winter. Was weeding it yesterday ready to put some lettuce in. The white plastic bottles have holes in the side and are filled from a rain water butt. They keep the soil damp.
Behind the raised bed is the Camelia which has flowered really well this year. See versions for Camelia pics.

In the raised bed you can see a fork handle - which begs the link below to the classic youtube Two Ronnies sketch - Four Candles. 🙂🙂. Hope you get a grin from it 🦋

Great initiative Dave and a wonderful set of shots. If this catches with neighbours etc. on you'll be putting the commercial growers out of business. Savid

Great to see what other gardeners grow and how they go about it.
I got little freebie seed pods from M&S and the radish have sprouted - put into a pot this morning - that's my excitement for today!
The camellias are gorgeous.

Yes, the bottles do very well, later in the year they fruit little green plastic screw caps. More a visual than edible fruit, sadly 😀😀
