Himalayan Tahr ( Guardians Of The Mountain )

The Himalayan Tahr is a large ungulate related to the wild goat. and important role in the prairie ecosystem by providing food and creating unique habitat in the Great Plains of Uttarakhand.

Protected areas such as the Kedarnath wildlife Sanctuary are important for the species survival.
They move to higher elevations in the morning, when they will escape most predators, and then spend the day resting. As the day ends, they move to lower elevations where food and water are more abundant.

Tahr are found around rugged wooded hills and mountain slopes, reaching elevations of up to fifteen-thousand feet. Primarily eat grasses, shrubs and trees, they play an important role in the prairie ecosystem by providing food and creating a unique habitat in the great plains of Uttarakhand.
