Halfmens forest

By accipiter
Stumbling up a stony mountainside in the Cedarberg I came across a forest of these wierd succulent-like deformed dwarf trees covering several acres. With their shiny, papery trunks and red 'Hair' they were a tempting subject to photograph despite the heat and the puffing and the sweat!

In Afrikaans these are called "Halfmens" - literally translated as half-man or dwarf. Actually I think maybe somewhere between a Hobbit and an Ent!

I hope you enjoy these pictures and thanks for all the CC's on yesterday's upload.
Have a good day. A
