Halfpenny Bridge

By woolybill1
A brief interruption of my images from York to interpose this one shot from the waist in Dublin last Thursday, really because it seems to follow on from the sequence of two taken outside Betty's in York. Both of those illustrated the contrast between the chap munching on his burger and the high-class café in the background; here we have two lasses in traditional school uniform and a passing punk on the "Halfpenny Bridge" over the Liffey.

Yes I know there are bits of feet and heads missing, that's the risk with this kind of shot. I was about to press the shutter again when a lady in a purple fleecy jacket and carrying a Nikon D40 moved across the frame from the left Sad
I think it still works, after a fashion. I know somebody who will prefer this one in colour, so colour goes first this time.

18mm, 1/100th sec. @ f8, ISO 200

Back to York tomorrow.

By the look on her face the tartan skirted girl on the left knows exactly what you are shooting.

Spot on, Danny SmileSmileSmile

You've been rumbled by the girl Danny mentions, and I for one prefer the colour especially with the kilts.

All the very best

Really sense of movement in this Bill. Well captured - my preference is the colours version.

The colour version holds more detail and the better light - imo. Good focusing from the hip, but you are already specialized in that! I esp. like the hole in the fg. stocking. Helen (helenlinda) has the darning tools!

A Posteria for Posterity......
I scrolled it down to the top of the punk girls waist & found it made a wonderfully interesting image of different shape legs & footwear.
Well captured Bil...prefer the colour version.

Lovely dynamic street shot Bill, with the guy nicely framed by all the girls. I also prefer the colour version.

Great shot Bill, there seems to be a lot of what looks like chewing gum on the path which seems to have spread to the girls legs!!

I agree too - but it was posted as the third in a series, not a new direction. Anyhow, thanks for the idea - I might work on it for another time!

Fine rear-view sort of shot, Bill. Think this one works best in the muted colour version. Hope you had a good break.

Must be something about the Spanish flag - I was going to say the same as James (Jarendell). Just to add that I prefer the colour version.

Bill,it would have been the end of what I consider to be a very pleasant on screen relationship, if you ommitted the colour version here!!!!!! And don't worry about missing heads and feet.An excellent crop here.Who needs heads and feet!!!! I am glad we can compare the two images. The colour does have more impact, oomph, wheeesh, wow, wish I had seen that, factor about it.But boy,do I wish these boots were rust coloured!!!!!

Interesting chewing gum patterns too (if you drag your eyes away from people!) The image works well for me Bill, and I too prefer the colour version.
