Hamnøy, Lofoten

By Johnnybairdphotography
Hamnøy, a small island and the oldest fishing village in Lofoten, situated between the Vestfjorden and Reinefjord. The original red fishermen cabins (or “Rorbu”) have been converted to tourist accommodation, but retain their uniqueness. They are built on land, but with poles that allowed easy access to fishing vessels. This was home for just under a week – picturesque by day, softly lit by the low lying November sun; and luckily on one night the setting for the Northern Lights above Lilandstinden mountain & Hamnøy.
