Hand to Hand Combat II

By John_Humphreys
Yesterday when uploading a picture I noticed that we now had the opportunity on EPZ to have our work critiqued by a professional photographer so I ticked this option on the upload page. I have modified the photograph according to Terry Hewlett's suggestion and here is the result.

Great grit-your-teeth action, loads of tension, lovely job.

read the critique yesterday, and honestly was a bit surprised about the suggestion to crop. allthough this crop brings out the facial expressions more, I found the original more pleasing for the eye composition-wise. I like this one, but much prefer the previous one. Would only go for a close crop because of upload-size issues. If you're not e2, better make the most of the limited upload size, but since you can post larger versions...

Like the close up and feeling in the rough and tumble.

I go for this version myself. While not a rugby fan or a sports aficionado in general I find the crop really enhances the tension almoast to breaking point. This is powerful stuff!

I go with this version, it's stronger, and focuses better on the confrontation and physical tension.

A bit of a split decision on this then, John. This one just shades it for me.
