I took these surreptitiously. These street sellers looked like they could turn nasty.

The selling of fake designer goods is widespread and difficult to police, nor is it restricted to Venice. The powers that be adopted a novel approach. If a visitor buys a fake and is found to be in possession of one the penalty is a stiff fine. Who in their right mind would believe top end goods sold on the street are legitimate goods?
