A first attempt at taking a ladybird macro - comments and criticisms are very welcome - and thanks for looking. I feel there may be too much oof flower...?

A beautifully balanced capture, the contrasting colours and crispness of your image is quite superb. A real pleasure to view and admire Ann.

Lovely composition and perfect focus on the ladybird - all that detail of the legs, antennae and underside of the carapace (?) I can't say I mind the o/o/f petals myself, but then I'm hardly a purist where ladybirds are concerned!
Good to see you back.

Bill

A ladybird shot with a difference. Gorgeous limited colour palette, and I love the flower being white. Sharp where it should be and falling away nicely.

Cracking shot !!.....like the way the ladybird's colour draws the eye immeadiately, in an otherwise mono image !!

By the way, what's an 'oof flower' ??......your spelling !.Grin

I think a tighter crop may be beneficial but it is a fine macro as presented.

Clinging on for dear life! Good to see you around, I wondered what you were up to.
What makes this work for me is the angle - of stem, flower and ladybird. Tilting over balanced by climbing up. I've been looking at tighter crops on the right, taking the edge up to just right of the top of the stem, but those tubular petals pointing in our direction are a problem, there's no obvious cut-off. So I reckon this is right.

I'm never sure as our club concentrates on sharper than sharp!

The red shows so well on the virtual mono background, Ann. The bug is perfectly placed on the thirds, a crop would alter the dynamics. A beauty.
