Happy.

By paulbroad
Happy or sad. I know how I feel when shopping. My wife was in a dress shop and I was, as usual, propping up the wall outside. I take a camera to ease the boredome and shoot by guesswork often.

This was from the hip and later straightened and cropped a little. They look really happy.

That is a great shot, I try and do that but all I get from my wife is ,you can't take photo's of people like that, one day some one will lick you down, so I have given up, but I know it can be great fun when you get back home and load them up to see what you have got.
Thanks for the comments again.

Ray,

In 50 years of photography and many candid sessions, I have only been approached twice. One was a chap at a car boot sale selling concrete garden items. He was upset I had photographed him which tells me he was doing something illegal - tax dodging, working on benefits or something. The other was a stall holder in our local market who thought I was press.

For the above shot, and most of my candids now, I set the camera to auto focus on the centre spot, auto exposure and auto ISO. I hold it at my hip supported over my shoulder with my hand so that I can press the shutter button. I set a focal length to suit. I then aim by guesswork, trying to keep the camera horizontal, and shoot. The only problem is shutter noise on an SLR. if sat down, I use the liveview feature if possible, which gives a better return.

Tell your wife she can shop, you will photograph. Mine tries to pretend I'm not with her!
