what camera and lens did you use for this ..is it a lensbaby or did you blur it on purpose ? difficult to give feedback without those details
Good expression captured but personally I would crop out the LH side up to the couple as the foreground is distracting. Soft focus can be effective but seems to be unevenly applied. A vignette applied with the elliptical tool in PS would solve this. A bit more work and you could have a nice image here.
I like the look on her face, again details needed to make a proper judgement on you work ... I'd crop out the OOF person to the left .. I'd keep the couple in think this tells a story, nice work P
I think you have the makings of a good photo here but for me it does not quite come off. I like the idea of the out of focus umbrellas as they provide a frame for the main person. But I think the woman has to be sharper, at least her face and the flowers, so they stand out from the rest. I am not sure whether you could capture the effect in camera, you might have to combine a couple of images with layer masks but it would be worth the effort. I personally think the couple in the background are a bit of a distraction and do not add anything to the story.
Like the soft focus effect you have achieved. I would also agree with Paddy's comment in that the left most person / umbrella are distracting and also upset the balance of the composition. Have uploaded a mod. Especially like the background couple with umbrella, and the look that you have captured of the main model.
It would also be useful if, next time, you could describe what camera / lens you were using, shooting info, the intent behind the photo, and what aspects you wanted critique.
Look forward to more.
Hi Helen, welcome to EPZ.
You don`t say what lens you have used, looks like it cold be a lensbaby at a pretty wide aperture.
This is a pretty good composition, love the addition of the couple in the distance without them this would not work quite so well. They add depth and added interest.
As for crit, there`s not a lot I can give. Pictures like this never look that great at this small size, so maybe just a little sharpening.
i think youve done a good job here , my crit would be the people in the background but shooting weddings on the fly often leaves you with this kind of thing in shots.the colours look a little muted to me as well
