Thanks all Smile

LOL Keith - this light lasted for a grand total of 10 minutes. I thought I was in for a treat, then Mr. Sun went for a trip to the pub (must stay of the tablets).

Just out of interest - the stats reveal that 12 people have looked and haven't commented. If any of you see this and aren't particularly thrilled by the image, then I'd appreciate your thoughts why. Just curious and willing to learn. Smile

I sure don't see anything wrong, its a beautiful shot, though I wouldn't worry about the stats, I think if you get 30 percent of the views to leave comments you are doing great. Spot on! Click!!!

Thanks very much everyone.

Hi Kin - it wasn't very high, approx 500 metres. I thought it would be a good and accessable viewpoint for the Scafell range and I wasn't wrong. Trouble is the light didn't last long enough to do it full justice. Never mind - it'll still be there when the decent weather comes. Smile

Popped in to view, Must not go without commenting! Seriously Pete plan A must have looked good for those ten mins, as this is superb. Lovely foreground detail leading to the snow on the hills, love it!

This is simply stunning...
The snow capped mountain ridge sits beneath a gentle sky, and the lake looks cold and deep. Finally the fg is a fine base to hold up a very good detailed landscape.
This is very good quality work Pete.
All the very best

Very well captured and presented, Pete. Mountains look great but for me there is a bit too much dead space (i.e. the tarn) in the middle. Seems strange me leaving negative comments on your work which is light years ahead of mine but its just my personal taste I guess. Click for the capture and presentation.

Another stunner Pete! Superb clarity and light. Who cares if plan A only works for 10 minutes when you can take an image like this in that time?!

I can understand where Iain's coming from about there being a lot of foreground in relation to the mountains but I think it's appropriate as you can so often come over a rise and suddenly get an eyeful of distant peaks like this...

Thanks very much everyone.

Hi Iain - criticism very welcome! This was one of the few shots I managed to take before the sun disappeared. This is really a straight record of the scene, and I was warming up with the different compositions when the sun disappeared. To top it all, I was still scouting the area and found a SUPERB view of Great Moss and Scafell, just beyond the rise in this photo. Definitely a place I shall return to and hopefully do it justice.
