Harvest Mouse - PET

By philhomer
Unlike most, I will openly admit when a subject is captive. We have had 3 of these little critters for c. 3 months now and they are a great source of lost time.
They are not really hand tame but do not hide away either, and are very curious.
They appear to be neither nocturnal or diurnal but run around for a couple of hours, nap for the perhaps 3-4 hours, and repeat throughout day and night.

I await arrival of my photographic home for them so this was taken in their actual living area which has been designed more for their enjoyment than it has for photography.

I would stress that we only took these on after considerable time in research and advice from vets and those that breed them for reintroduction to the wild.

You are probably already aware that they, like monkeys, have prehensile tales. You may not be aware that they can also teleport - or so it appears.

Beautiful, what a privilege it must be to watch them at home.

They do make a first class image, caged or not Phil, and I bet many hours of pleasure watching them. Pam
