After photographing the organ pipes in Wakefield Cathedral, shown a couple of uploads ago, I had intended to photograph the organ itself, but I spotted these colourful hassocks on the choir stalls and grabbed the image in the lead. I then forgot all about photographing the organ! So, the version is an image of it I took a few years earlier…

Many thanks to Alan (af1) and Dave (HobbitDave) for their User Awards on my previous upload, Wakefield Cathedral 3, most appreciated 🏆👍

Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Nik Collection's plugins and Photoshop Elements 2020.

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 😃👍

So well taken, on both images Trev. The hassocks remind me so much of our Church when growing up. My Mum spent hours helping make new, tapestry cross stitch ones. Labour of love.

Impressive organ Trev. You have to admire anyone who can play these. Definitely pulling out all the stops Grin

'Hassocks indeed! And the same to you young man.'

Two splendid images Trevor and a very enjoyable series. 😀

Two superb images, Trev - I don't think I've seen a 5 manual organ before!
Wakefield Cathedral looks a wonderful place to visit.
I echo Graham's comments!!

Love the hassocks, Trev. Kaths comment above I can relate to, my mum used to do the same, wonderful patterns and designs. The organ is a big one! A five manual one (many of the large ones are four). My bro is a retired music teacher, he used to play the organ in Winchester cathedral 👌

Dave 🙂
A stunning organ and such colourful hassocks, well captured Trev.

Not being familiar with the word Hassock, I looked it up. I read its either a village in England, or a tuft of grass, - or, in north America a cushion for kneeling on!

As a Catholic growing up in Ireland, we were quite jealous of Protestant churches because the had kneelers, and we had hard wood!

Nice pics

Yes, Willie, you're right, there is village called Hassocks, a few miles north of Brighton! 😃

It's all been said, Trev, but the colours in the lead are lovely, and that organ is impressive. You've captured its warm tones so well, it really is a captivating image. I can't imagine how the organist chooses which keyboard to play!
