Hay Bluff

By jond
I went out to play with a completely manual medium format rangefinder camera last week. Talk out operating outside your comfort zone! Fortunately I also had my 35mm SLR with me - it may not be capable of the image quality of the medium format - but at least I'd got a reasonable idea of what I was doing!

Anyway this is one of the 35mm shots (the medium format ones all ended up in the bin!). I quite liked the shadows on the bumpy grass in the foreground - but I'm not sure if its interesting enough? What do people think?

I think it's 'made' interesting by the play of light and the colours...I would imagine that the full size image scores on the detail too.

Hi Jon
I like it, while there is nothing that grabs you and pulls you into the image the shadows in the foreground form subtle lead in lines drawing attention to the stream and in turn the lovely golden colours in the middle ground. A very tranquil shot, nice work.

It has enough in the light and shadow interplay to make it interesting to me.

Hi Jon. I know what you're saying about the FG, because after all it's just grass...but I think the contours in it have shapes of their own which add to the overall comp and lead in nicely..So no, not a bit boring IMO, beautiful light and lovely rich colour also
