He Listened to the Radio

By chase
A few memories for me here.
The bakelite radio belonged to my Dad, he rigged it up in his shed so he could listen to the Cricket whilst he was doing whatever he was doing. I spent many hours sat on a box listening and watching him work.
The hat was also his, he wore it on many occasions whilst umpiring local cricket matches, 40 years worth Smile whilst I was sat on the boundary in charge of the score book.

So here he is, taking a break, listening to the radio.
I miss him terribly Sad

Lit by daylight camera left.

An HDR image, 3 frames each 1 stop apart combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.

Lindas Chair is just about restored now and has a lovely soft wax finish.

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Be good, stay happy.

Sunt lachrimae rerum - There are tears in things... My memories are of my grandfather's shed, he taught me wood-turning (I was quite good at it sixty years ago). He spent a lot of time in his shed, that's how marriages survived in those days...

Sheds were very special places some years ago, I learned how to wire a plug and rub down furniture before giving it a good old polishing.
Tears...yes when I remember things, where we went, what we did and the laughter we shared.
Yep, I was a 'Daddy's Girl' and followed him everywhere.... well ,almost.

Superb shot Janet, and if it was possible to photograph memories then that is what you have done! You have photographically recreated the age when life was good....although none of us ever thought that at the time!! BTW, that chair looks amazing😉👏!!!!

I wish my father had been the type to engage me in things; unfortunately I had to wait until I was married and 'inherited' a father-in-law who taught me car mechanics, woodwork, wine-making, fishing...etc., etc.

Fantastic. They say a picture should tell a story and this certainly does, even if wasn't the one personal to you. It's lovely. As is the chair. Is she going to let you keep it?

When I saw this 9and before reading your description) I immediately thought of cricket and John Arlott's commentaries. Lovely memories for you.

I know so well those dad memories. They come and go all the time. This is a lovely way to bring him back if only in your mind. He could be there but just left for a moment. I'm out of awards but this is so worthy. I actually learned how to put on new brake pads. If I didn't he wouldn't let me drive. They even had to be riveted onto the shoes.

Such a lovely image and sentiment, beautiful.
As a Dad and a Grandad that's all I need is to be remembered in the way you remember your Dad. Each and every time you think of him, he is there with you, sharing the memories.

A sentimental image beautifully composed and a wonderful tribute to your Dad Janet.
