He went thataway

By geoffrey baker
I still have a lot of Puffin photos from my recent weekend on Skomer Island but I've been a bit reluctant to upload any more after the controversy that some of my latest ones seem to have caused, that was never my intention, I just quietly go about doing my own thing.

But what the heck, it's not my fault if I've taken photos that are good enough to earn awards and I don't see why I should be made to feel guilty for just doing what I do to the best of my ability.

So if anyone has a problem with seeing more Puffins on here, just don't comment or vote on them and go look at all the other photos in the gallery instead, concentrate more on improving your own photography and leave me alone.

Thanks to the person on another site who suggested the title for this one Smile

Oh, the photo, yeah, I quite like it Wink

LOL, top title Smile

Just actually read the description, get em uploaded, most people can spot these are quality and deserve the awards! I went to the Farne Islands a few years ago (using film) and didn't get one even close to the standard of this!

Hi Geoff, an absolute stunner your best so far.
I tried to improve on it but failed so
a quick conversion into Black and White will have to do.
Well taken .

Oh, just read your description.
I wouldn't give a monkey to what people said. If they can take better puffin shots, they are welcome to it. A suggestion: maybe you should try wearing camo shooting garden birds, that would be harder to do...Wink

Keep them coming Geoff. I for one love your Puffin pics and they deserve all the votes and awards they get. Superb well timed capture. Excellent pose, lovely colours and beautiful pin sharp detail. Great title.

Who's said what Geoff?? I say what I see and your shots are great,if you look on some of my shots, people have said, this should do well or be short listed but they never seem to just make it which does take me aback as I feel some of my shots should have done alot better than they have as I went for different things, but thats my own view and should not take away your vision in taking the great images you have taken Geoff, I have learned Geoff there are some nastytwo-faced nasty people around and who are not what they say they are, I'm from the school of if you've got something to say, say it to my face so I can defend myself, not behind my back and to others, I wish you well and I'm still trying to see whats been said geoff, but keep up the good work and I wish you all the best.

P.S lovely photo, love the wing action

Thanks everyone and thanks for the mods guys Smile

Sorry about my rant in my description but it's just that earlier this week someone complained about Puffin photos getting PA awards on here, they implied that they were easy to get and since there were only 3 awarded, 2 being mine, I did kind of take it personally, as you'd expect, with hindsight perhaps I shouldn't have said anything as usual but I did Sad

I put a lot into my photography, when I'm not doing it I'm either reading about it or thinking of it and incidents like that just take the gloss off it for me.
Anyone who thinks it's easy to get good Puffin shots should go try it, it's not as easy as it looks, especially in the harsh light I had to work with, believe me.
Anyway, I'll be quiet now lol Smile

This is another fine shot Geoff.Totally agree with your comments, there are people on here that all they do is winge and moan about the PA and HC galleries. They need to get out there and do it and see how easy it is..not.Those images are chosen by a set group of people who take all types of photography and to get an award is an achievemnt.Your work in all genres is outstanding and each award is merited.
I know what it was like on that bright day at Skomer because I was with you and I also have a lot of images that I am proud of.So let them winge and moan Geoff and keep posting.

I think your puffins are truly magic so keep photographing them! Firstly I never realised puffins looked so good and secondly I didn't even know they were in this country so your pictures are educational as well!
Was going to say I was near Skomer Island tomorrow but checked on the map and we're going to about 90 miles in Aberystwyth. Bit far to nip down even for a chance of seeing a puffin!

Thank you.

Craig, Andy was talking about the guy who was on about the Puffins getting awards when he said someone was ranting again, it wasn't directed at you mate Smile

I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with Mark and the two Andy's and they were some of the nicest people I've ever met so I really don't understand where you're coming from Craig, anyway, I've had enough controversy for one week lol, I just come on here to share some photos so let's all just chill out ok? Smile
