I have really struggled to nail this type of shot so quite pleased to have finally got one. I like the inclusion of the other players as they provide context and show how high the lad has jumped. Can I be forgiven for chopping the Methley player's feet off?
As always I would really appreciate your views.

A difficult shot in what looks like quite harsh light.Well timed too.
I see you like the inclusion of the other players & I see why, but my first thought was to crop the lad in the air into a singular portrait frame as with the feet chopped off ( sorry) it makes the frame look a little unbalanced...without feet he is unbalanced too.
Timing is good & I like the bit of movement on the ball.

Well timed and handled in what is harsh looking lighting.
would like to see a crop as Chase suggests

It seems that a crop to isolate the player is favourable so I will have a look at that and maybe upload again. Many thanks for the comments, everyone.

I think the other player's expressions are good so I would keep them in. They seem to show some sympathy for the lad heading the ball - "that looks painful"- and by his expression he seems to agree! Reminds me of playing, years ago, on cold, wet days with a heavy, soggy leather ball - got knocked out once.Sad
I like the image and the harsh lighting comes with low winter sun, so seems in context to me.

I would keep the other players in as their expressions are priceless - "that looks painful!" and by the expression on the face of the header , he agrees! Reminds me of playing, years ago, on cold wet days, with a soggy, heavy leather ball - got knocked out onceSad
It is a great shot and I think the harsh light comes with the low winter sun and is appropriate.

Thanks, Geoff, it only hurts if you get it wrong....and we've all got it wrong at least once resulting in a nice headache! Having said that, a soggy leather ball probably hurts every time.

That's it. Everything there, sharp, action, ball. Good stuff. What a head of hair. Nothing much wrong with this one. I was once hit in the face in a school football match whilst in the wall for a direct free kick. The man, then youth, taking the kick was Graham Taylor, of Watford and England.

I remember the teacher saying, well stopped, lad. I thought, if I'd seen it coming, I would have ducked!
