Jenn, yes we wear high wellington boots with thick socks - I've just bought a neoprene lined pair for the Winter, in the vain hope that my toes may keep some of their warmth while out there. The water around the boats, together with the creeks that still hold water can be quite deep even at low tide. The sand/mud can also be quite deep in places too when wet - always best to be well prepared. I also like to get out there on a falling tide, with plenty of water around the boats, this tends to push my luck a wee bit wading out there in the deeper water - been lucky so far and not had a boot full of cold sea water, thankfully
