Another from a year ago, taken about half an hour later than my Mercury rising image. The large majority of the boats on the Shoebury sands are motor cruisers and fishing boats...all of them individual, and making a trip so very rewarding photographically. I also savour the few hours of utter peace and quiet being out on the sands offers the early riser... Only another 9 days before tide and sunrise are good for another trip... Wink

My thanks go to Lin, Peter and Nezih for their very generous User Awards on my previous image Grin

A splendid early morning shot--- Do you need high boots to walk on that beach?

So different and sad to see these boats in that state for us living in this part of the world where there is little unnoticeable difference between ebb and flow. A great mono.

Many thanks for your continued support and wonderful comments - all very much appreciated Smile

Jenn, yes we wear high wellington boots with thick socks - I've just bought a neoprene lined pair for the Winter, in the vain hope that my toes may keep some of their warmth while out there. The water around the boats, together with the creeks that still hold water can be quite deep even at low tide. The sand/mud can also be quite deep in places too when wet - always best to be well prepared. I also like to get out there on a falling tide, with plenty of water around the boats, this tends to push my luck a wee bit wading out there in the deeper water - been lucky so far and not had a boot full of cold sea water, thankfully Wink

I like reading about your precautions, Mike. You have balanced the composition so well in this, and, unusual for me, I like the mono. I also like the reflections in the wet sand, and the little lights in the far background.
