Sited atop the volcanic mound known as Beblowe Craig, Lindisfarne Castle is one of the most distinct and picturesque features of Holy Island in Northumberland and can been seen for many miles around.
Following the dissolution of the monasteries by HenryVIII, the Castle was built in the 1550ís using stones from the demolished Priory.
The Island can only be reached by crossing the causeway at low tide.
Nice composition Graham - I might have tried to squeeze the left hand side of the boat into the image. Hope you don't mind me saying... The image gives a very wet, and probably very true, feeling of Northumberland!
Well Spotted and great composition.
Excellent, also a mono conversion, do endorse a previous comment about the boat being just out of the frame though.
Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated. I would have loved to have been able to get all of the boat in the frame, but as it was I was precariously holding on by one hand to a loose pole hanging out from a jetty. Another few inches and it would have been more than the boat that would have been wet.
