High Five

By louisemorrisonsty
Good morning folks.
Well I am an extremely happy bunny. I am now the proud new owner of a Canon Eos 500d! Cant believe I finally have a proper "grown up" camera. I am still trying to figure out all the buttons and functions of the camera, but stick with me and ill get there. I have the basic lens with the camera, canon efs 18-55mm and I also got another one efs 55-200mm. Still trying to suss them out. Well as you can see the main focus of my attention with my new camera is that of the cats. Finding it hard to get a good in focus shot of them as its all new to me, cant just point and click any more. Anyways hope you enjoy and all comments welcome. (as for processing RAW files....... give me a couple of months lol)
Thank you for all your previous comments and clicks. Have a great weekend.
Lou

Now, that is the business. Enjoy your new camera and learn those buttons quickly. Actually you can just point and click on a SLR. Set it to Program. That isn't how to get the best out of it, though. You have overcome the first obstacle already by focusing on the kitten's eyes and having sufficient depth of field to throw the background right out of focus, but keep the nose and mouth sharp. RAW is nowhere near as daunting as it seems before you try it and it really opens up your picture making capability.

Well Louise, for your first try out with the new DSLR I think you've done pretty damn well. You've got the good clear focus on the cats face, very cute he is too. The only thing I would say against it is the tight crop, if he had the tip of his ears and all his whiskers , in my eyes, it would be perfect. Well done.

That's a great start Lou, lovely cute shot with cracking detail and focussed in the correct area. Once you get used to it you'll really enjoy the versatility of the different lenses.

Have a lovely weekend too.
