Hills and Pass

By TOTON2017
This photo is taken near Khardungla Pass. Ladakh. Ice deposited in the peak entices me and I took the photograph.

Hi TONTON, the location of the shot you took is not very often accessible to foreigners like us, so I really appreciate your capture & the scenic beauty. I have uploaded 2 modifications based on the following observations as I cannot access your EXIF data to justify your photo details:
1. the image is underexposed by up to 1 f stop,as such, the foreground rock details & deep valley lines lack detail;
2. there is an unexplained blob of light flare on the right bottom part of the scene so small I cannot attribute it to lens flare but could be a spot on the inner lens elements;
3. the sky looks over polarized;
4. correcting the EV & bringing the mid-level range to "retrieve" more details among the shadows ;
5. downsizing the image to upload;
6. unsharp mask to bring the foreground details to life;
7. a monochrome version to concentrate on the light & shadows formation of the landscape.
Hope you like the modifications as they are just my friendly observations. Greetings. Smile

Hi again. This is an impressive view, but in the Critique Gallery we do need to see the Exif, your camera settings. We mentioned this on your previous upload - if you use Save for web the data is stripped from the file. We need a note of:

Focal length, ISO, Aperture (F number), shutter speed, Exposure mode (Aperture priority? Shutter speed priority? Manual? Scene mode? Auto?), Metering mode, White balance setting.

In the past you have asked for help to improve your photography but there's not a lot that we can do without that information!

That's the first matter. Now on to what we can say without that data. Sawsengee makes some very good points above. My main problem here is the sky which has a very strange look. I suspect that you have processed this, could you please upload the original as a modification? Click on the blue Modifications button below your upload, then on Upload a modification, and follow the instructions.

Thanks in advance,

Sawsengee and Moira have said it all - fascinating location, but a lack of EXIF data means we can't analyse what went wrong to cause the underexposure.

The original would be good to see, as well.
