Himalayan Balsam...

By cats_123
Good morning Epzers 😁... another sea mist and expecting another scorcher...

Sadly, not found at Everest base camp, but along the shores of Lough Neagh...its surprising the people you meet. A casual question about photography opened up a chat about survival and invasive plants...

Have a great day and stay safe 😁...and keep learning 😁

It smells lovely but unfortunately is a very invasive plant and spreads like wild fire. Ted. GrinGrin

It's beautiful, but a pest. It suppresses other wild flowers and then because its roots decay very rapidly it leaves river banks vulnerable to erosion.

Sadly, yes..this guy demonstrated to us by pulling a 4ft high plant out of the ground with one hand to reveal a very small root ball...a new species for us..but now that we know!!😁

It's a real scourge. Loads of it over England.
It's up there with Japanese knotweed, rhododendrons, grey squirrels, Canada geese, mink, American crayfish, the list goes on.

So invasive, so much so that it is illegal to move soil that contains the seeds. So colourful too! Good set Jeff.

A nice set, Jeff. I prefer V2, with the plant beautifully framed against the dark background.

They're very lovely, Jeff, like all three, but think the lead just wins it for me 😃👍

Reminding me of what we call "Jewel Weed!" Jewel weed will be seen in yellow, orange and sometimes white-- is extremely invasive !!!
