A beautiful stretch of open countryside , the side lighting picking the contours and textures of the sun facing slopes. Lovely landscape shot, Alun.

Thanks a lot. Glad people seem to like this one. I was stood near Paxton's Tower in a field of cows with their calves. They were a bit nervous and I didn't fancy hanging around too long with the calves showing great curiosity about the creature with five legs and three eyes, one of which was monstrously large Grin

This is so beautiful. If I was to go there, would it really look like this, if so I'm going. And I'm not afraid of cows. Love it..............Sandy

Smile Late evening on a fine summer's night and the light behind you and it will indeed look like this, Daisy - or thereabouts Wink Not scared of cows either but the calves were walking up to me out of curiosity and the mothers got a bit protective and so disgression being the better part of valour, I made a tactical retreat Grin

Just saw the award. Well chuffed Phillip. Many thanks.

This is lovely Alun! Almost strange to see all those man-made and inhabited structures in landscape photography. Well done.

It does have a Shire look to it - soft colors and well tended fields. Really a beautiful image.

Thanks a lot, Dougie, Yung and Christina. I hope everyone has a good weekend.
Christina - a round door in that hill would set it off nicely Wink

Very different to your usual images Alun. Normally, I associate beautifully detailed foregrounds with your work, so was surprised to see this image in your PF. I don't think that the thumbnail does this image justice. The light hitting the contours of the land is just superb... 'nice' light is perfect for this kind of view. Job well done mate.

Thanks Andy, m8. Yep, I don't seem to post many telephoto landscapes but I'm lucky to have the 100-400 which is a very versatile piece of kit with great IS. I hope the clients will be happy with it. Had they asked for an image from most areas in Wales I would have had something but I didn't have anything other than the odd castle from Carmarthenshire. However, I'm glad now that I was asked to take a picture of the Tywi Valley as it's opened my eyes to several possibilities in the area.

I reckon if Peter Jackson had seen this, he'd have immediately put the Shire in Wales. Stunning light and overall an excellent landscape image.
