After missing a couple of coach outings due to being confined to hospital, I managed to make it on Thursday's trip to Hohenschwangau, a village in the southern part of Bavaria, only about 2 to 3 kilometres north of the border with Austria, and stands alongside a large lake, the Alpsee (V5). Though there were only odd patches of snow everywhere else, here as you can see there was lots of the white stuff!
The main purpose of the trip was to visit Neuschwanstein Castle which stands on the hillside, and can be seen in the distance in V3. The temperature didn't manage to get much above freezing, and it was also a bit misty. It was a bit of an uphill climb to the castle, but having a rather painful knee after my mishap, decided to take the easy way up on one of the horse-drawn carriages (V4) Wink

Single Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw 7, tweaked in Photomatix Pro 4 and Photoshop Elements 11.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

A lovely set Trev . My you do get about . WinkWinkWink I love version 4 . It looks very clever as if you have done some colour popping on the Horse & Carriage , but no it is just snow on black , bare branches . Could give it a place of it's own ? xx

A lovely set Trev. Glad you got some images from your trip. These are lovely but kind of cold and maybe slippery for a man just out of the hospital......Sandy

I know that it is geographically totally wrong, but I find myself thinking of Dracula, or was that the Sound of Music? I always mix those two up.Sad
Looks magical anyway, Trev.

What a lovely set of images Trev. Winter seems to be the better time to be there, in summer you'd have to wait hours for a carriage, and to make it uphill when the sun is scorching (as it was when I was last time there) is no fun as well. Like v5 very much, great misty atmosphere.

PS. I hope you're ok now, looking forward to more of your brilliant images.

A great winter set from this village, Trev: does look cold with all that snow and grey overcast, all wrapped up in their winter gear.
In summer, these views would be a riot of colour, I guess.
