Firstly, a big thankyou to Philip_H for his User Award on The Sad Soldier.

Near to the "Waiting Soldier" (my last upload) who sits on a bench near the Town Hall in Cartagena, Spain, is the Walking Sailor with his bag slung over his shoulder. So this isn't a Sit-By-Me statue, but a Stand-By-Me oneGrin.
Again, a life-size bronze statue in uniform, a lone sailor on his way home.
V1 has the original background, a rather unattractive wall.
In V2 I have given him a different background.
Vs 3 & 4 show him facing the Town Hall. I couldn't get his legs and the top of the Town Hall within the frame, sorry.
Cartagena (pronounced car-ta-hay-na) is a Mediterranean city and major Spanish Naval Station, and boasts many beautiful statues and the natives like this type of art, or street sculpture. It is a city that is very proud of its naval history, which dates back to the 18th century, and the streets are filled with monuments paying tribute to its heritage.

Three beautifully observed photographs Pam, the final image being my particular favourite. He certainly looks like he could do with his first taste Spanish hospitality.

Hi Pamelajean,

I liked all the shots but V3 was my favourite as it gives me the context of where he's located.
Nice photographs,

A nice selection of the sailor, Pamela: V 1 deserves it's V 1 slot and I do like V 3 showing it's positioning in it's surroundings. Excellent detail captured.
An interesting bit of narrative to accompany the set.

I think V1 with the unobtrusive bg works especially well and my other special favourite is V3. That is one stunning building and there's a real sense of the sailor's movement, even though, as you say, we don't get to see the entire statue. Looks like very impressice bronze.

An excellent copper Bronze statue Pamela, the verdigris adds to it nicely, a good light showing the detail and colour of the copper in the bronze to advantage, well processed and presented, would have liked to see the whole figure but space was limited. An excellent set and series so very well done, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinTongueWink

A fantastic set of studies Pamela, v2 is the stand out shot. I hope we shall see an upload featuring that magnificent town hall in the future.

A super set of variants, Pamela, the first two have splendid detail and wonderful colouring and texture. The last two i like the composition and framing, they are almost lifelike in the way you have sequenced them, very clever.
Well done.

Really good shots of this fella, Pamela. I love the colours and textures you've brought out so well in V2.

Vs 3 and 4 are both beautiful shots (V3 is my favourite of the whole set) and if you mouse from 3 to 4, it looks like he's walking along!
