Laing showed a fascination for telegraph wires all tangled up. He first displayed this fascination/obsession to me at Harper's Ferry when we were on holiday visiting battle fields of the War of Independence and Civil War. The last chance he had to take a photo, unusually he missed, while we were in Yangon?Rangoon. I took the photo for him, as it were, and he passed high praise for it. This is just over a year ago now. Well, here I am in Bangkok following a walk we did before and I saw this tangle of wires.
I saw this tangle and this one of the attempts I took. As soon as I saw itI knew it was worthy of him. So here you are Laing, the photo I wish you could have taken, but if you had, I wouldn't have dared compete with you.
When I took the photo, the light was poor and very grey and it looks almost monochrome.
It was taken with my new toy, the Leica M-E with my 50mm Summilux, which I now have have thanks to my little inheritance. Thanks Laing, I hope you believe this worthy of the master.
