Horrocks Wood Car Park Nitrous Oxide Use

By philtaylorphoto
3 February 2019. Bolton, Lancashire, United Kingdom. Horrocks Wood Car Park, which sits high in the the hills above the Lancashire moorland offers spectacular views across the rolling hills over Manchester, and out to the Peak District. Previously, it was an area well used by courting couples, with the car park being littered with evidence of their activity. Nowadays, you will find it littered with hundreds of spent Nitrous Oxide cartridges and balloons. Normally, they are designed to be used to produce whipped cream in restaurants, whilst the gas, which is an anaesthetic is now commonly used as an illegal drug under its street name 'Noz' , due to euphoria it produces.....Pictures were taken at first light after the coldest night of the year, following a Saturday night....Pictures by Phil Taylor ..AN EARLY MORNING DOG WALKER WALKS PAST A PILE OF SPENT 'NOZ' CARTRIDGES AND BALLOONS LITTERING THE CAR PARK

A sad sign of the times.

Very true. I work in Manchester, and it's quite common to find cannisters in back alleys, the office car park etc.

However, this is a beauty spot three miles outside a town in the countryside. Quite frightening when you think that a driver high on this stuff will have been in charge of a car that passes the edge of a cliff to get there on icy roads at around Minus 6

Sad reality... Good photo journalism though. Thank you bringing this to our attention.
Seems to be a growing trend in my area too
