Horse Shoes

By kaybee
Scott Brash, the showjumper, comes from Peebles - a small town south of Edinburgh.

This life sized statue of him going over a jump was made by blacksmith Kev Paxton to celebrate his achievements.
It is made from discarded horse shoes and other scrap (Kev only uses scrap metal for ethical reasons).

All of Kev's large, 'solid' pieces have a small item hidden somewhere inside them (I have seen nesting birds, mice, a book and pen...).
So I went to see if I could find what was in this sculpture.
It was bigger than I expected (maybe because the framework is more open than some pieces) but still really hard to photograph because the gaps are small and certainly not conducive to using the camera's built in flash.

The thistle in the extras stands about 10 feet tall and the flowers are a bit of a trademark.
