Good evening everyone, or is it morning, anyway whatever it is I hope you have a good one.
I am hoping you all had a great New Year and will have a fantastic 2013.

I went to bed the other night and as I was snoring louder than an elephant my wife opened the window, the fresh air usually calms it down, either that or I keep all the neighbors awake.
The cold air began to blow and I began to dream, I was just starting a fantastic mystical journey into my mind when the bed bumped. I awoke to find my wife was not there, my snoring must have driven her away to another room.
It was then the bed began to move, I gripped the headboard as I was lifted in the air and floated gently out the open window.
Now outside the house the bed took off at a rate of knots, it was going so fast I couldn't see where I was or where I was heading.
Suddenly the bed began to jerk and make funny movements, it then began to fall from the sky. I have no idea why, but all I was bothered about was that someone might see me in my Beano pyjamas. There was a huge bump as the bed came to rest on the ground.
I looked over the side and found it was sand, the sand was everywhere, it was then I realised I was in a desert, I hasten to add, not a trifle, that would be a dessert. Although, a dessert would have been nicer, but wouldn't have worked for the story. Where was I, oh yes in the desert, right, I checked the bed for provisions, but sadly only found a few crumbs from the toast I had eaten for supper, no trifle again, that would have been great, a bit messy for supper though and in the bed. I digress again, back to the story, don't you just hate toast crumbs in the bed, it's as bad as sand in your sarnies when on the beach or in the desert, actually a sarnie would have been nice instead of just crumbs. Anyway, I hoovered up the crumbs, you never know, a crumb in this situation could be the difference between life and death.
I began to walk, I headed for the north star knowing that I was either heading north or in a completely different direction.
I came over the top of a dune and stubbed my toe on something hard, it hurt as I hadn't had chance to pick up my slippers before the bed had left. Having rubbed my toe better I checked out what I had walked into, it was a helmet. I decided to take it with me and wear it, once the sun comes out in the morning I knew I would need some cover and this was ideal.
I walked and walked into the darkness heading in one direction or another. Eventually the sun began to peep over the horizon, so I ducked down a bit that way it couldn't see me. It wasn't long before it was scorching hot and no amount of ducking would hide me from it. My mouth was dry, my lips were beginning to crack. I was now patting myself on the back for collecting the helmet, it was keeping so much of the heat from my brain which by now was struggling to interpret the picture my eyes were seeing, miles and miles of sand, just pure golden sand.
It was then I spotted it, was it real or just a mirage. I could hear singing in the distance, I had heard this song before, the artists names came to me quickly, Jellybean and Adele Bertei, this was turning into an even bigger nightmare. Ignoring the terrible din I began to move quickly towards the foliage I could see, I arrived to find it was real. Thankfully the screeching had now also stopped. Silence at last, I could finally get to drinking some of the water contained within the oasis.
I put the helmet down and began to drink like my life depended on it, which it did I think. I reached behind me searching with my hand for the helmet which would help me to collect even more of the refreshing liquid only to find it had gone. I spun around thinking that I can't be alone, I wasn't. My helmet that had saved me from the sun was now walking to the bush to find some shade, it was only a tortoise who went by the name of Terry. I thanked him for his help and he said that it was his pleasure.
I wanted to rest as I was now tired after all that walking, I spotted a dusty bed under a tree in the cool shade. Laying my head on the pillow I felt myself drift away into the land of dreams again.
Aaaaaaaaargh!!!! I jumped up, bashed my head off the headboard, kicked the radiator, got barked at by the dog and smacked by the wife. The alarm had gone off, it was time to get up.
It must have been a dream. Sadly I will miss my saviour Terry.
Heading for the bathroom the floor felt a little weird underfoot, it was then I noticed sand was trickling from the hem of my pyjama trousers onto my feet.
It was just a dream, wasn't it??????

I hope you like todays upload, thanks for any comments.

I though the helmet was going to turn into the tortoise! You certainly dream the dream, Andy.

I was very slow on the uptake but I got there in the end . . . . . Wink

Happy New Year, Andy!

Too much cheese eaten late at night can do seriously bad things to a sleep pattern and cause nightmares, or so my Grandmother always told me! Tongue Great tale; lovely Tortoise image.

North East humour is well and truly embedded in your soul Andy.
