Hot under the collar

By MossyOak
One from very early O'Clock today at Bushy Park. Very cold temperatures and fortunately this Stag was a bit hot under the collar after defending his harem and thus heavily breathing hot air into the cold of morning aided with a very good sunrise from his right and from behind to show it all. Good planning and positioning expecting this and some fast moving after spending 30 minutes watching a Kingfisher close by.
Many thanks for the CC's on the recent Bushy uploads, really appreciated.

i think you could make a little bit more of this shot, there is a little bit of light showing
to the side and directly behind, i think with a little bit of photoshop dodging and burning
you could have yourself a really nice picture indeed, the breath condensing in the cool air
is really nice...well seen

Thankyou Ron, but if you read my narrative it explains that is what I was after with a slight rim light and positioning to show the breath which unless it is backlit does not show half as good.Wink

Timed to perfection Richard. A lovely shot; and what a pleasure to see some light instead of all the foggy mornings of late.

Like the back lighting effect on the breath.

Looks like you have put the 5 (or 6!!) P's to extremely good use here. Excellent shot - love the lighting and the breath is the WOW factor to this one IMHO. Another cracker from your good self! Lou

A good atmospheric shot with the backlit breath and early morning sunlight. I think a lower viewpoint would have worked better here, not only in giving a more intimate view of the stag, but also it would have eliminated the visible path in the background, which is often half the battle at Bushy Park.

Superbly timed and taken to catch that dramatic "breath" moment, Richard. Lovely colours in the natural bracken environment.
