HOW LONG?????????????

By MrsS
Went along to Crosby at sillly o'clock this morning to meet up with Tom (Toffee) amd Ian (shutterspeed) so I suppose you'd expect me to upload a shot from there.

BUT....

Tom and I were having a natter, and I happened to mention that it was almost 12 whole months since I bought my VERY OWN camera!

and that got me thinking - - - so I had a trawl through my archives when I got back and found this one.

it's from the Hadrian's Wall meet last May, and I borrowed a camera from Merl (aftertherain), and made some wonderful new friends (some of whom I haven't even met yet!)

decided on the pano format, as I thought the subject suited it and the sky was really quite boring, so if you can bring yourself to "GO LARGE" it may be worth the effort Smile

I have been promising to get back up there ever since, to catch-up and put faces to names, and it would appear the we will be doing just that, although not quite so near to here, but over in Berwick - - not a million miles away, so stand by your beds folks, the sut68/fran_ash circus will be coming to the NE somewhere near you, and there'll be nowhere to hide! Wink

Anyway, I really liked these boats, and the almost neon colours of the buoys, not too sure if they create a barrier, or if they need some fg interest, I'm sure you'll let me have your opinion Smile

Finished wittering now, thanks for spending some of your evening taking time to look (and even read!) - - enjoy what's left of the weekend, catch up soon Smile

Cheers All
Fran xxx

Finished have we now, taken me that long to read missed my dinner now.

As I remember it was raining and it was a bit of a trek to this location plus one of those silly o clock starts and you've gone on from this to produce some good stuff this last 12 months Fran hope the next 12 are as productive for you.

I like the mood captured in this one Fran, but not sure about the capture itself. I think my biggest problem with it for me is that there is very little that does not have motion blur. The composition works and I like the rippled reflection, but the sharpest object in the FG is the right hand buoy, which shouts for attention and drags the eye away from what makes up the tranquil scene.

Still gets my vote for the mood though.

Thanks Neil, see what you mean, it was blowing a gale so hard not to get motion blur, defo wasn't camera shake! Smile

The red bouy on the right caught my eye straight away, such a wonderful vibrant colour.
Like the boats too, the way they are close together, & the calmness of the water.

hi fran
i take it you did not use a tripod then as the image looks blurred to me or is that deliberate in photoshop ?

Why these bloody boats have to be parked square on to the shoreline I do not know. They make a far better image if you can look at them end on.I also think they were better before they were painted green.
I remember the occasion very well as Merl had problems with her foot and she was awfully worried she might not be able to make it. If you had come yesterday or to day the weather would have been exactly the same however you would have got an equally pleasing shot. This reminds me I must go and see if your tree is still there.

Thanks Hilary, Steve and Danny Smile

I did use a tripod, Steve, but with no clicky thingy, and a 6sec+ exposure, I might have given the camera a "twitch", and it was extremely windy too Smile

Glad to see you've got the ownership of the tree right, Danny, mat even get back up there this year! Wink

Like the comp and crop Fran, but there's something that just doesn't seem to sit quite right.

The foreground water and up the side of the boats seems to have been selected and blurred, and so has no detail no ripples or anything, but the shadow under the boat does have ripples. The water behind the boats is rippled (as you would expect). It may well be entirely natural, but it just looks slightly odd to me.

I know you will take this as honest crit, so I have no fear (honest)!!Wink

Can promise no blurring has taken place, MrL, can't really explain it, other to say that it must be as is Wink
