I can see you

By louisemorrisonsty
Ok this is my first attempt at processing RAW files. This was taken out the back of the house at dusk. So very low light. Clio was across in the next door field so i used my efs 55-250mm lens. It was hard to spot her. I played about with some of the settings and quite liked the end result. I know the picture is a bit grainy but i think the camera handled the low light very well. I could have cloned out the grass but i think that it adds to photo, as if she is trying to hide but failing. Smile anyways all comments welcome. Enjoy.

Congratulations. You plucked up the courage to go RAW much quicker than I did. You have managed to impart a warm tone to the main picture, which is probably closer to the way that your eye saw it than the camera recorded. RAW files often look a bit off straight out of the camera and it takes a bit of tweaking to bring out their sparkle. I think the dim light and low contrast may have fooled the camera's AF system a bit in that it has focused on the grass in front of the cat instead of on the moggy itself, but - hey - we can forgive you that. It's a nice picture and, considering that it is a first attempt, using a camera that you are not yet used to, not bad at all.

Hello Louise, I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination and don't pretend to be but having read countless books and reviews I went the Raw way and must say I think you can improve one's shots so much better with raw processing, so all I'm saying is stick with it Louise.
As Dave says it's a nice picture with a warm feel to it.

Lovely natural colours in this and the tortoise-shell colouring on the cat blends beautifully - really nice image Smile Kerry-Anne
