I got a new lens.....

By HelenMarie
....and am just trying it out. These were taken in Duthie Park Winter Gardens, Aberdeen, yesterday whilst I waited for the ferry. So far I really like it although I have a lot to learn about using it but seriously impressed with how much it fits into a picture. These are just a few of my trial shots. Can't wait to get out in Shetland to try it out Smile

Such focal lengths are great to have but they need careful handling.
It's all too easy to get too much in or have empty foreground. Not the case here though Smile

Nice very wide lens Helen for many uses. Fine set of images here showing its possibilities. Very sharp.

I have this lens which is still a work in progress Grin
At least you have managed your verticals and no sign of you in the images .

Hi Helen,
A lovely set of shots of these impressive glass houses.
This is not a criticism at all but a little helpful friendly advice, I hope.
When using a ultra wide angle lenses you need to be very aware of the vertical planes. If the camera is not perfectly level you will get converging vertical lines.
If you're using it hand held this is not always easy but can be easily remedied in photoshop by setting the lens correction tab for your particular lens and using the perspective adjustment tool. Enjoy your new lens and show us the results.
I hope this is helpful.
