I'm here...

By madeinbrooklyn
I went to our local park, which now appears to be home to much more than waterfowl, turtles, and the like. I believe people are living in the park now, perhaps a sign that our government isn't doing its job. This is not the place to gripe, so I won't.
I kept staring at what I thought was a small tree but turned out to be a large Blue Heron. I couldn't get closer; people in the way, and they weren't going anywhere so this is the best I get even stretched out to 600mm.

Try a square crop from the lower 2/3 of the frame, it works for me, it creates a better relationship between foreground and heron. Two different approaches to the challenge of fishing... I like the fact that the foreground figure is looking towards the bird.
I'd also try rotating a tiny bit anti-clockwise, to get the ripples horizontal.
It's a fascinating image, a one-off.

Herons can be very tolerant of people...

I think the heron is the better fisher.

Hi Moira:
I had actually tried that but will have to revisit that edit. Thanks
