I scream; you scream

By TanyaH
Flowers and I have an uneasy relationship at the best of times Smile I don't like cut flowers (I don't think it's fair) so when I saw this dyed orchid (another practice I disagree with) at the mother-in-law's, I figured I'd snap it and see what I could do ...

It's a massive crop from the original and the quality wasn't great, to say least, hence the oil paint filter effect (hides the grainy pixels!) Smile It kinda reminded me of a little screaming mouth ... bit like an orchid having a tantrum at bedtime ...

I can see what inspired the title Tanya, and this is just as Eye catching as that Iconic Painting.

This is really good Tanya.......you have nailed this one the first thing I thought was Edvard Munch’s - The Scream

Of course they have feelings, Miguel ... have you never listened to them softly sighing, as they revel in the warm summer rain?! Wink

I hadn't actually thought of The Scream when I did this - not sure where the title came from in a way, but it wasn't that. Apart from that, I did a version of The Scream a couple of years ago, with a bit of wood ... Blush

I've surprised myself with how much I like this flower image ... may just do some more at some point Smile

They're strange flowers, I find them difficult to photograph. Stiff, almost plasticky. This is an extraordinary interpretation.

Pete and Phil, thank you so much for your user awards Smile

Believe it or not, there is actually such a thing as an Orchid Mantis (google it!) - beautiful, looks like an orchid and apparently you can keep it as a 'pet' (yeah, right!). So insect / praying mantis is probably spot on Grin
