I Stand Alone

By PaulMillar
Hi all, hope you are having a great week. Came in from work yesterday and decided to go to Glenfinnan, left at 6.30pm and a 3 hour drive. The weather was poor all the way up through the glens and thoughts of a wash out was on the cards. But as I arrived at the iconic view the rain had stopped and the last of the days light was going. The focus was to work in low light and then onto the next destination in the dark. I spent the next 20 minutes been eaten alive by the army of our little friends..............They are back from there holidays................

Thanks again for the continued support....................Have a great weekend.

Dinner and bed got back at 3.30am and went to work at 6.30..............photography bug think I've gone mad.

Paul.

crikey Paul I'm glad I'm not the only one who drives like an international trucker to get a shot....love the comp and the low cloud rolling in over the mountain tops

Your long journey certainly paid off, Paul.
I have seen many an image of this iconic monument but never one illuminated like this and from this time of day. A very original take indeed.
When I was there in 2002 the midges totally spoiled my day, and nothing I tried to repel them seemed any use whatever.

If it makes you feel better on the crazy stakes, I once drove from Cardiff to north Wales to catch dawn in the Llanberis Pass. I found it was raining so I walked up to the summit of Snowdon in the rain for something to do. I reached the summit before the Café had opened and the first train arrived. I then walked down, drove across to Anglesey and Penmon Lighthouse for afternoon and evening before driving for five hours back to Cardiff!! You are not alone in your madness, my friend! Excellent image and a bit different from the norm.

Very nicely done Paul. I have stood at this very same spot on many occasions, but not with this type of lighting. I can understand that you may feel slightly mad, but most good photographers are mad anyway. Nice low viewpoint and lead line to the monument, with an interesting sky from the long exposure, good to see that I am not the only mad photographer on this site. Enjoyed our meet this afternoon, and look forward to an outing in the glen soon. Excellent work my friend, take care. Bill.
